Business TrendForce: Global smartphone production growth in Q3 2021 by 5.7%

According to a recent report by TrendForce, the smartphone market showed improvement in the second half of this year due to the peak season of e-commerce promotions and the relief of the new crown epidemic in Southeast Asia and other regions. But, the severe shortage of components such as 4G SOC, low-end 5G SOC, display panel driver IC and so on restricts smartphone brands from increasing equipment output in the second half of the year. Looking forward to the third quarter, the total quarterly output of smartphones was approximately 325 million units, an increase of 5.7% from the previous quarter.

For the total output in 2021, TrendForce lowered its forecast to 1.335 billion units, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. The previous forecast was 1.345 billion units, an increase of 7.3% year-on-year.
